5 Ways To Freshen Up Your Home This Spring

by Aapo Ahola

The interior of your home can get a little boring after a while. After you have been pent up inside all winter and you have completed your spring cleaning, it is natural to want the inside of your home to look and feel a little different. Luckily, there are many ways you can alter the appearance of your home this spring with a few home design skills.

Way #1: Use Furniture Covers

You don't need to purchase new furniture to make your space feel different. Instead, you can just cover up your furniture with furniture covers. You can find furniture covers for just about any type of furniture you have, from your couch and loveseat to your lounge chair or dining room chairs. Some of the covers may fit perfectly, and others may require a little tailoring in order to fit right.

Putting covers on your furniture can make your living room, family room, or dining room feel completely different. Go for some lighter colors or more playful patterns for the spring and summer months.

Way #2: Change Your Duvet

Another place where covers can really transform a space is your bedroom. Keep your duvet or comforter and put a cover over it. Purchase some new sheets and pillowcases and transform your bedding into a delightful new space for a very affordable cost.

Way #3: Add Summer Accessories

Add some fun summer accessories to your space. Handcrafted accessories have a fun summer feeling to them and can make the inside of your home feel more relaxed and inviting.

Way #4: Add Fresh Flowers

Fresh flowers may be temporary, but they can really change how your home feels. You can pick up fresh flowers for an affordable price at the supermarket or at your local farmer's market. Purchase a big bouquet, and then break it up into smaller bouquets you can use throughout your home. Flowers can add a little extra something to any room in your home, even the bathroom.

You can also use silk flowers to add some new color to a space. Or you can plant some fresh flowers in small pots in your home so you have fresh, affordable flowers throughout the season.

Way #5: Swap Out the Rugs

Get more life out of the rugs in your home by swapping them out during the spring and summer months. You can purchase some affordable outdoor rugs and use them inside your home for a fresh infusion of color. A new entry room rug can make your entryway feel brighter and more comfortable.

If you need some help altering your space this spring, hire a home designer to come and help you change the space. It is amazing how little changes can really change the overall feeling of your space.
